Delphi Celebrates Grand Opening of Historic Interurban Apartments

Transformative Project Honors Iconic Carroll County Railway

Delphi, Indiana – Iron Men Properties, along with officials in the Greater Lafayette region, are hosting the grand opening of the Interurban Apartments on Friday November 22nd, 2024 at 11:00 a.m.

Here is a recap video of the day!

The Interurban railway, originally built in 1856, connected Ft. Wayne, Logansport and other Indiana cities cementing the legacy of Delphi as a transportation hub. Just shy of a century after the Delphi depot closed in 1932, the new multi-family project is opening its doors to new residents and the public. Iron Men Properties broke ground at the historic site in September of 2023, and has painstakingly preserved historical elements of the original structure in each of the 68 units while introducing popular modern amenities like a pet wash, state-of-the-art fitness center, and comfortable communal spaces.

Joseph Blake, principal of Iron Men Properties, shared “The team was inspired heavily by the history of the Interurban Railway that ran behind the new Interurban Apartments. The lobby shows this by the grand arches and thoughtful design elements to echo a train station to the 1920’s”. He adds “The units floor plans are named after the stops on the historic Interurban to pay homage to Delphi’s heritage.” From the vintage local art and photos that adorn the walls, to the terrazzo tiles, each element reflects the railway’s history.

Founded in 2013, Iron Men Properties has developed many beautiful communities including Faith West, Anvil 38, the Flats of Lebanon, and Nickel Plate Flats. “We are excited to pursue future communities and have several other projects around Indiana in development”, said Blake. The $12.5 million investment is the largest private housing investment in the county’s history, and has been made possible by redevelopment tax credits, Tax Increment Financing, Indiana’s READI funds, and a partnership with the city of Delphi.

Be a part of history by joining the city of Delphi, area officials, and Iron Men Properties for this much-anticipated grand opening of the Interurban Apartments as this new journey begins in Carroll County. Everyone is welcome.
